Heart to Heart: When We Gather, We Give | An Iftar

Ramadan is an honourable and blessed month, and the rewards for generosity are multiplied in it. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) stated the best charity is that given in Ramadan - Imam ibn Isa al-Tirmidhi.

The CALD Staff Network at Legal Aid NSW partners with the Western Sydney Law Students' Association for Heart to Heart: When We Gather, We Give | An Iftar to mark Ramadan 2026.

This Ramadan, as we come together to break fast, we reflect on the true essence of community of shared compassion, collective action, and a commitment to those in need. Ramadan calls on us to not only fast in solidarity with the less fortunate, but also to act through charity, bringing our empathy to life. Iftar symbolises much more than a meal, it represents unity and the power of collective support in times of crisis.

This year, Legal Aid NSW’s Iftar is dedicated to raising funds for communities in crisis-affected regions around the world. All funds raised will support the work of Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders), an international and independent medical humanitarian organisation delivering emergency medical aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters, and exclusion from healthcare.

Ramadan teaches us to recognise the struggles of others and to act with generosity and purpose. By contributing to this fundraiser, you help provide tangible support to people who urgently need access to medical care and humanitarian assistance.
