In Memory of Dr Peter Burnett

So very saddened to hear of the passing of Peter, a lovely man and neighbour. Sincere condolences and all of our love to Maura and family. Love Carole and Ged.

Peter was a wonderful colleague both here in Adelaide and later in Melbourne where I, too had moved for a decade. He was an excellent clinician, an astute manger and a kind and generous colleague. He certainly deserved a long and happy retirement. Please accept my deepest sympathies in your tragic loss.

Sending heartfelt condolences to Peter's family. What an incredibly sad loss for our community. It was an absolute pleasure to work alongside Peter on the Foundation House Quality Governance Committee. His warmth, intelligence, compassion and patience were inspiring to be around. It was a privilege to work with him, he will be very much missed by us all.

A privilege to have known & worked for over 20 yrs with such a beautiful, knowledgeable, caring giant of a man - he will be greatly missed, loved by all .

We will dearly miss our rides, chats and trips away together. Peter was such an interesting and lovely friend who will be sorely missed by us.

Such sad news. Memories of Peter for me go right back to medical school , then training in psychiatry together in Adelaide. His quiet ( but daunting ) cleverness, sharp sense of humour, and kindness, which combined to make him such a great clinician. Also a few years back then as a cricketing teammate, and bowler of formidable leg breaks. I'm so sorry that he won't now have the long retirement he thoroughly deserved and my heart felt condolences and sympathy to Maura and family.

Peter was my supervisor when I was a registrar. The clinical experiences Peter passed to me will be passed to the new generations of psychiatrists.

Peter was a deeply admirable man - a highly effective, generous and wise leader in public sector psychiatry.

I met Peter through book club. I really enjoyed his company, his hospitality and his book selections. Maura, thinking of you at this dreadful time. Love, Tom.

Peter was an extraordinary clinician, mentor, and leader. He managed to combine sharpness (of intellect and wit) with such warmth and kindness. He taught me so much as a clinician, and he was unfailingly generous and patient when he supervised my PhD. He was an amazing model of clinical leadership and just such a good person. I feel lucky to have known him.

Peter was an exceptional leader and clinician. I fondly remember working with him, and the generosity, support and wisdom he offered everyone he worked with in the clinical environment, and which extended to all the young people and families he worked with. Sending sincere condolences to his family and friends.

This was such sad news to hear of and I'm grateful to have been able to attend the memorial event at Orygen, the place where I first met Peter. His wise counsel will be missed by many.
