Please help Granville Waratah SFC raise vital funds for Médecins Sans Frontières

With the situation unfolding in Gaza, Granville Waratah Soccer Football Club, has decided to organise a Walkathon on 16 June 2024 in support of Medecins Sans Frontiers’ humanitarian response in Gaza. They are currently on the ground in Gaza.

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), (Doctors without Borders), is an international and independent medical humanitarian organisation delivering emergency medical aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters, and exclusion from healthcare. They offer assistance based on need irrespective of race, religion, gender, or political affiliation.

MSF is calling for an immediate and enduring ceasefire in Gaza and Israel to prevent further civilian deaths and to allow aid workers unrestricted access to provide lifesaving medical care.

After more than seven months of war, Israel’s unrelenting and indiscriminate strikes on Gaza have destroyed buildings and entire neighbourhoods in the north of the enclave, reducing them to rubble and debris. More than 37,000 people (mostly women and children) have been killed, and over 77,000 have been injured so far.

More than 1.9 million people in Gaza—over 85 per cent of the population—are estimated to be forcibly displaced and living in unsafe and unhealthy conditions. No place is safe from the bombing. 

The suffering of Palestinians trapped in Gaza can no longer be put into words and their loss and on-going pain is being directly felt by some Waratah members who have family and friends in Gaza with nowhere to go.

We are now asking members of the Granville Waratah Soccer Football Club and their network of friends and family to join us on Sunday 16 June 2024 for a Walkathon around Belmore Park. 

By seeking sponsors for every lap you undertake (each lap is 0.5km), we can help raise desperately needed funds for MSF's response in Gaza and the people desperately needing our support.
