Please help me raise vital funds for Médecins Sans Frontières
Healthcare workers of New Zealand - let's work to support the people of Ukraine and our colleagues on the frontlines of war.
We have all heard the devastating stories of suffering in Ukraine and want to help the best we can despite our geographical distance.
Donate your earnings from a shift or day's work to Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) who are providing medical humanitarian assistance to those affected by the war in Ukraine.
As the conflict intensifies, MSF has stepped up its medical humanitarian response to the deepening crisis in Ukraine and in neighbouring countries. According to MSF, their focus has been on surgical, trauma, emergency and intensive care equipment and medicines. Other key medical needs are also emerging, including insulin for diabetes patients and medicines for patients with other chronic diseases such as asthma, hypertension, or HIV.
Given the rapidly changing situation, MSF reports fear that it will get harder to move medical supplies and medical staff to where they are needed, hence the urgency to move fast on this now.
Please donate a day of your own work here in New Zealand to contribute to the
humanitarian response for the people of Ukraine.

NZ Nurse caring for locals with MSF in Kharkiv, Ukraine
Tuesday 29th Nov
An article today via "Stuff" news tells of a NZ nurse - Maia Blenkinsop - providing care and treatment to local people in Kharkiv suffering the trials of war. Read the story via the link below.

Nurse Blenkinsop told journalists "there’s a lot of chilling stories that I’ve heard.”
“People just can’t believe how horrible it was. They were living in a peaceful area... and then a war started and a lot of them say, ‘I just can’t believe this has happened.'"
While we can't all be on the front lines, we can support our colleagues in Ukraine by donating earnings from a day of our work to MSF.

A Bitter Winter in Ukraine
Monday 28th Nov
As we come into summer in New Zealand, our colleagues
in Ukraine are operating – literally, and sometimes by torchlight –
through a bitterly cold winter.
Surgeons and theatre staff in Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital have been performing
life-saving surgery by torchlight following air strikes that damaged the
country’s power grid.

A moving report by the BBC also highlights the
dedication of a team who have set up a trauma centre in an abandoned building
near the war’s front line.
"Even when you wash away the blood, and sprinkle with peroxide, there is always this smell. You never forget it," says Valeria, 21, an anaesthetist's assistant.”
